It'll simply spawn a ghost that's better left unbothered. Smash the one on the left to reveal an item, but don't touch the other. Get through it and you'll find the third Star Coin.Įarly in the stage is a doorway that leads to a small room with two blocks. Just past the doorway that leads to the stage's flag area is a brick wall that Shell Mario can smash through. You'll need to be Shell Mario to get the final coin (there's a random item block in the upper-left corner of the room in which you need the power-up). Jump to this stairway and continue over the top of it to find the next Star Coin. Climb the stairs until you can see a second stairway on the left. Use the splunkins like mini trampolines, jumping on their heads to catapult Mario high enough to grab the Star Coin.Īfter getting the first Star Coin, hit the nearby switch and jump onto the floating platform to reach the stairway on the right. Go through the doorway to enter a hall with a bunch of splunkin enemies. After Bowser is defeated, he falls into the lava and becomes Dry Bowser, and is not seen again until World 8.There's a doorway under a staircase and behind a switch. Mario must either go around Bowser and hit the switch, which collapses the bridge, or defeat him with fireballs. The fight is very similar to the ones from Super Mario Bros., as the fight takes place on a small bridge above a pit of lava, with a skull switch (which replaces the axe from Super Mario Bros.) at one end. The boss door at the end of the area leads to Bowser, the boss of the first world. Before making it to the boss's door, Mario can jump on the last tightrope to find a hidden Warp Pipe to get to a room with the final Star Coin. The second Star Coin can be found on a moving platform that sinks into lava. Mario then must get through a second lava-filled area. The first Star Coin can be found in one of the gaps, and Mario must Wall Jump to reach it. Mario must wait in the gaps between the spiked ceilings to avoid getting crushed. Eventually, Mario comes to a ground platform found below a ceiling of spikes that slowly moves up and down. There are also several platforms that move up and down, some of which sink into the lava. Along the way, Mario encounters Lava Bubbles and Dry Bones. The majority of the level consists of walking on tightropes over lava.
